Understanding how ED medications work

Today you can ask just anybody about such a sensitive topic as erectile dysfunction and they will tell you all about the possible remedies and medications available. The advent of oral medications for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and their consequent marketing has revolutionized the way people see the problem at cause. Now no one is shy about discussing erectile dysfunction and it has become an ordinary health condition just like diabetes, blood pressure problems or any other health condition. But with all the success behind erectile dysfunction medications have they become a real cure for the problem and is it time to forget about erectile dysfunction at all?

The most widely spread misconception millions of men share all over the world is that ED medications can really treat male impotence. In order to explain why this assumption is erroneous it’s necessary to understand what erectile dysfunction is in the first place. Most people think that erectile dysfunction is a stand-alone condition that develops over some time independently of all other conditions. But any doctor will tell you that ED is more of a symptom to more serious health conditions rather than a separate illness. Male impotence never takes place in a perfectly healthy male body without any apparent cause. There’s always something more serious affecting erectile functions in the body, the most common causes being hypertension, heart diseases, high cholesterol, diabetes, hormonal imbalance, psychological issues and other circumstances. So it’s apparent that in order to get rid of erectile dysfunction you’ll have to eliminate the condition at cause, which leads to the actual treatment of the underlying condition.

So what do drugs like Levitra and Viagra do if ED is not a disease? Aren’t they effective at all? Of course they are – millions of men will confirm it. But it’s wrong to say that drugs like Levitra actually treat erectile dysfunction. They only help eliminate the effects of it in order to make sexual intercourse possible. All ED drugs work by intensifying the blood flow into the penis upon sexual excitement, which results in strong and durable erection. This allows enjoying sexual activity for some time but once the drug effects wear off it’s all back to the same situation as earlier. This is comparable to the way painkillers work – they relieve pain for some time but they do not eliminate the actual cause behind it, so it’s erroneous to say that painkillers can help you treat arthritis or any other painful conditions.

Of course, no-one is denying the fact that erectile dysfunction medications have made a big leap in the treatment of this sensitive health issue. Compared to the situation only 20 years ago, we can certainly say that drugs like Levitra and Cialis have made a big breakthrough and allowed millions of men to enjoy sexual activity regardless of their diagnosis. Nevertheless, it’s also very important to understand the limitations behind these drugs as they aren’t a magic cure to impotency. You’ll have to take them every time you want to have sex. Unless, of course, you do something about the underlying conditions causing the problems in bed.

Alternative pain management methods

When people experience any kind of pain the most obvious and common solution is using painkiller drugs. We are all used to these medications because they are effective and quite convenient to use. Modern day painkillers are much better than older drugs that were plagued with many side effects. Still, sometimes even the most sophisticated and safe to use medications can cause negative symptoms or aggravate other health conditions simply because there’s no such thing as a perfectly safe painkiller drug. And if you happen to suffer from such an issue, there are some alternative pain management options that can be as effective as common oral pills. Make sure to try the following if your painkiller drug doesn’t deliver the effects you need:

Heat and cold

This type of therapy is probably the easiest and most common in case of an injury. In fact it can be safer and more effective than some painkillers. All you need is a towel moistened with hot water held against the affected area for about 10-15 minutes. Just make sure to not cause a burn. Heat will intensify the blood circulation in the area and reduce inflammation. Cold on the other hand can numb the nerves in the area, so you can use it as an alternative. Warp a couple of ice cubes with a towel and hold against the area. This is the perfect drug-free first aid in case of trauma and acute pain associated with it.

Physical therapy

Physical therapy is another pain management option that will suit those who suffer more serious forms of trauma or joint conditions. With physical therapy a specialists manipulates the muscles in the affected area in a way to promote faster recovery and prevent the muscles from deforming due to inflammation. Physical therapy can be particularly helpful in chronic pain conditions causes by injury or joint issues but it can also relieve acute pain to a degree right after the trauma. But it may take a couple of sessions and won’t work as fast as Ultram.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese practice that was known for centuries in China and has recently become quite popular in the US. Under this practice the body is covered with small thin needles that are applied to special spots that are believed to control the flow of vital energy in the body. Although the assumption may turn down the most skeptical people, numerous clinical studies have shown that acupuncture can actually reduce painful sensations with many chronic pain conditions like arthritis withing a couple of sessions. So it really makes sense to visit an acupuncture office if you need chronic pain relief. Just make sure that the specialist is a certified professional who knows what to do.

Electromagnetic therapy

Electric and magnetic therapy are used separately but address the same mechanisms in the body. Both these methods intensify the blood circulation in the area of application, which helps reduce inflammation and reduce the sensitivity of nerves that ultimately leads to pain relief. Whether achieved through application of low power electric current or magnetic field, this method is particularly useful in cases of joint pain and injuries. Of course, it may take a longer time to take effect if compared to drugs like Ultram. But on the other hand there are little side effects with this type of pain management.

Levitra and the treatment of ED

When someone tells you about his erectile dysfunction problems it’s nothing out of common or surprising these days. What was a taboo only a decade ago is a normal topic for discussion with your medic because there is a way to treat the condition. With the advent of numerous erectile dysfunction medications it all comes to taking a single pill before sexual activity and the drug will do all the work. It has become so common that millions of men all over the world are using these drugs on a regular basis and feel very comfortable about it. But what makes these drugs so effective in the first place and how do they help overcoming male impotence?

The mechanism of action behind such common erectile dysfunction drugs as levitra is rather simple and it’s really surprising why didn’t anyone come up with such a solution earlier. No, it doesn’t do any miracles or change your body. It simply increases the amount of blood flowing into the penis upon sexual excitement and seals it there until ejaculation. This simple mechanism is very effective in the majority of erectile dysfunction cases because it addresses the actual problem that leads to male impotence.

There are many different conditions that cause erectile dysfunction, including smoking, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cancer, heart diseases, high cholesterol and many others. All these conditions affect different parts of the body in a different way and cause different complications. Yet there’s a particular effect that all these health problems have in common – they deteriorate blood vessels affecting the normal circulation of blood through different parts of the body. When this happens in the penile area there’s less blood flowing into the penis when an erection is formed, which results in flaccid erections that don’t stay for very long. So the most evident way of overcoming the problem is actually increasing the blood flow when it’s necessary. And that’s exactly what Levitra does when it’s taken.

Yet, you have to understand a few things about using erectile dysfunction drugs. First of all, they are not magic pills that will make all your problems go away in an instant. ED drugs represent only a temporary solution to the problem and you will have to take them every time you want to get good erections. If you want permanent results – try treating the condition at cause instead. Taking the fact that it’s often very hard and even impossible to treat certain health conditions that may cause erectile dysfunction it’s easier to carry on taking ED meds.

Another aspect of erectile dysfunction medications is that they are often confused with aphrodisiacs. None of the ED pills approved by the FDA affect the user’s sex drive. They only improve the quality of erections. So if the problem is primarily in getting sexually aroused don’t expect any effects from ED pills because they won’t work. And if you’re expecting an automatic erection right after taking the pill – you’re in for a real disappointment. Drugs like levitra should be used as intended, preferably with a doctor’s prescription. So it’s in your own interest to consult with a professional if you really want the drug to help.

Telcare Unveils New MyTelcare Diabetes Pal iPhone App

Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) February 14, 2012

Telcare, Inc. unveiled its new MyTelcare Diabetes Pal today, now available for free on the Apple App Store. Telcare is offering people with diabetes and their caregivers the worlds first iPhone app that automatically synchronizes with a wireless glucose meter.

Telcares free App is designed to empower every patient by eliminating the hurdles that have made the analysis of glucose readings so time consuming, said Telcare CEO, Dr. Jonathan Javitt, MD. We want to increase patients understanding of their diabetes and help them and their caregivers properly manage the disease.

In January, Telcare BGM (glucose meter) introduced the industrys first FDA-cleared, cellular-enabled blood glucose meter. The new MyTelcare Diabetes Pal App allows patients and caregivers to use their iPhone to visualize every glucose reading sent by the Telcare BGM while tracking medication, nutrition, activities, and notes. The app also enables patients who dont have the Telcare BGM to manually enter their blood glucose data and track it over time. Patients and caregivers receive feedback from Telcares proprietary rules-based algorithms and the entire Telcare patient community.

While there have been many apps designed to assist people with diabetes in tracking their own results, this is the first to automatically capture data from a blood glucose meter with no extra steps on the part of the patient. This is also the first app designed to share those results with health professionals and family members. A physician sitting at his desk can review the results of all diabetes patients in the practice and the mother sitting at her job can instantly know how her child with diabetes is doing at school.

The support of endocrinologists and diabetes educators around the world verifies the need for this application, Dr. Javitt said. We believe this apps innovative and intuitive design will help people with diabetes change behavior and as a result improve their health.

The MyTelcare Diabetes Pal App for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad allows people with diabetes and their caregivers to:

Track from anywhere: This new app combines the power of cellular technology with the newest Apple development tools to synchronize blood glucose, medication and nutrition data from anywhere. With each blood glucose test taken with the Telcare BGM, the app is instantly updated with the newest BG number. For non-Telcare BGM users, the App provides a user-friendly way to update each blood glucose log.

Discover trends: With over ten professionally designed graphs and charts, users are able identify trends based on Time of Day, Prescription Adherence, Target Zones, Day of the Week, Standard Deviation, Before and After Meals, Before and After Activity, and more. Users are also able to generate and email a one page, physician-optimized report in approximately 5 seconds. All data can be exported to Microsoft Excel.

Share data with others: All data are automatically stored at http://www.mytelcare.com, Telcares HIPAA-compliant cloud server. Users are able to automatically share their data with health professionals, family members, and others who may be involved in their care. This feature is particularly important to the parents of children with diabetes and to the adult children of elderly people with diabetes.

By utilizing cellular technology rather than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, devices including Telcares glucose meter (Telcare BGM) and the MyTelcare Diabetes Pal App can communicate with each other without the limitation of having to be physically near one another.

Recently a severe hypoglycemic episode caused me to be rushed to the hospital, says Telcare VP Matthew Tendler, who also has Type 1 diabetes. Although my family was over 500 miles away, they downloaded the MyTelcare App to their iPhones and saw every reading I took, in real-time. My mothers tears of relief as my diabetes responded to treatment and returned to a stable condition were enough to convince me of the Apps success.

MyTelcare Diabetes Pal is available for FREE from the App Store at http://www.itunes.com/appstore or downloaded directly at http://bit.ly/yNeWix. The App is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

Fitness Revolution, A Fitness Franchise Chain, Named Finalist for 3 Business Excellence Awards

Elizabethtown, KY (PRWEB) February 11, 2012

Fitness Revolution, a fitness franchising organization, has been named a Finalist for 3 different Business Excellence Awards. The awards were given out at the Business Excellence Forum, which took place January 13 and 14 in Memphis.

The ceremony is put on annually by Action Coach, a business coaching firm. Attending on behalf of Fitness Revolution was VP of Operations Timothy J. Ward, who remarked, It has been an amazing first year for Fitness Revolution. It is a great honor that the business world is taking notice.

Fitness Revolution, founded in December of 2010, began offering its first territories in January of 2011. By the end of the year, it had sold 94 different franchises and had been registered in over 40 different states, most recently Illinois.

In recognition of its outstanding first year growth, Fitness Revolution was named a Finalist for the Business Excellence Award of Best Startup. It also nabbed Finalist recognition for Fastest Growing Company (Fewer than 10 Employees) and Most Innovative Company.

Fitness Revolution has positioned itself away from the model of health clubs. Instead, it seeks to provide successful business systems to passionate fitness professionals. The goal is to create results-driven, sustainable businesses.

In its first year of operation, Fitness Revolution has provided a number of benefits to franchisees: preferred pricing from vendors, payment processing software, training equipment, SEO, and deals for nutrition and supplements.

If Fitness Revolution’s first year is any indication, they are succeeding. We knew immediately that we offered the tools to create profitable fitness franchises, said co-founder Pat Rigsby. But even we’re a little surprised at how quickly word has gotten out about Fitness Revolution.

Fitness Revolution’s success comes as no shock to business insiders who appreciate the company’s client-centered approach. In fact, the awards serve to validate the company’s strategy of meeting individual needs within its successful business models.

We had such an amazing 2011, Rigsby continued. But I think we have even bigger things planned for 2012.

About Pat Rigsby: Pat Rigsby is the co-owner of Fitness Consulting Group, a leading business development consulting firm within the fitness industry. Fitness Consulting Group is the parent company to Fitness Revolution, and a number of other fitness businesses.

Fitness Revolution is a member of the Fitness Consulting Group family of companies. Fitness Revolution franchises focus on providing clients with the best fitness coaching available today, using a training staff made up of nationally certified fitness professionals.

Open Enrollment for Professional Coaching Programs: Coaching Fundamentals and Mastery Certification

HEALDSBURG, CA (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

Source Point Training (http://www.sourcepointtraining.com) today announced open enrollment for its highly successful Coaching Fundamentals & Mastery Certification programs that are scheduled to begin September 14, in Phoenix, AZ.

The program equips participants with knowledge, skills and abilities to become professional coaches. The programs are approved by the International Coach Federation (ICF) for a total of 141 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units and provides student coaches with the designation of Certified Professional Performance Coach (CPPC). Thats more than any other coach training organization.

Program: Fundamentals of Performance Coaching, 84.5 CCE units

Training Dates: Sept. 14-16; Dec. 7-9, 2012; and Feb. 22-24, 2013

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Program: Mastery of Performance Coaching, 56.5 CCE units

Training Dates: April 12-14; June28-30, 2013

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Source Point Training co-founders, Barbara Fagan and Lou Dozier, have trained and certified some of the best coaches in this rapidly expanding profession. Joined by a team of CPPC professionals and business experts, they offer the most comprehensive coach training available.

Our approach has been developed from 11 years of teaching ways of being a coach not just the skill set, says Fagan. This training is as much a personal development process as it is a coaching development process.

We use an ontological approach in our coaching style, says Fagan. We work with clients on specific goals while coaching to levels of self awareness that will create greater achievement in all areas of their lives.

The full program provides five classroom sessions conducted over 9 months with 150 hours of in-classroom training with additional virtual and one-on-one coaching.

Fagan explains that the full certification process takes student coaches from learning the basics of being a coach, to developing core competencies recognized by ICF, but we also introduce them to other resources that are part of achieving success as a coach.

Student coaches are introduced to Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to enhance coach-client rapport and ability to design strategies for success. Branding and business development experts provide training on developing a market niche, key messages and a platform to launch their business. Our goal is to provide students all they need to be ready to step out and begin a successful business as a Certified Professional Performance Coach.

More companies are investing in coach training due to well-documented return on investment.

There is a stronger case than ever for offering employee coaching in the workplace, according to new research conducted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) based in the UK. The report, entitled Taking the Temperature of Coaching, highlights coaching as a cornerstone of high performance that focuses on the professional development of individual employees.

“Coaching continues to be important in maintaining high performance and developing more agile employees, work practices and organizations [sic],” says Dr. John McGurk, adviser for learning and talent at CIPD.

According to a new report from the Aberdeen Group, businesses that invest in employee training tend to reap the benefits in terms of improved engagement and retention levels.

Companies with a coaching culture have a proven record of higher levels of employee engagement. Right now is a great time to develop these skills as competition for recruiting and retaining the best talent becomes more competitive as businesses recover and expand,” Fagan shares. We certify our coaches as Performance Coaches because we feel this is where coaching is headed – coaching higher levels of personal and professional performance.

This type of professional development is not a fad, Fagan says. Its a strong trend that has been building for more than 20 years. The fact is, about half of companies in the U.S. currently implement coaching programs for their employees and staff. The American Management Association recently reported that 37% of U.S. businesses say that they are planning to start in the near future.

People who find themselves in a career transition and who have extensive life experiences in different fields see being a professional coach as a means to generate income and contribute to others. Medical and therapeutic practitioners, fitness trainers and physical therapists are taking up coaching to increase client progress. This is a great time to become a professional coach, Fagan shares.
